Scattered Leaves

I can still feel the breeze and the kiss of the warmth on my forehead, as I was running around the schoolyard for recess, collecting leaves for a fun (exercise) project in class. It was freeing, an escape of sorts from whatever little I knew or any matter I thought I was confined to, collecting all the scattered leaves of all shapes and colors illustrated to me how beautiful and precious life was and the power of the thoughts we cultivate within.

As we traced each leaf on wax paper and shaded it in with our number 2 pencil, what stood out to me is each pattern, each highway had it's own ending, two never bearing the same resemblance. Our thoughts and how we are as human beings carry on that same distinction.

You see, each leave had it's time on earth and judging by the various shades, it's brittle frame, some stems brimming with life and others that have done it's living. See our thoughts, no matter how scattered they are, come in all colors and those colors color our behavior and our behavior colors who we are and if cultivated correctly, we too can leave an imprint, as those scattered leaves that color our season. We too are here for a season. We must be our unique selves and scatter kindness, care, love, be a steward of change...

It's Summer now and many years later since, but the fact still remains...we are as complex, as beautiful and have a story as each scattered leaf we encounter on our own journey.

Be blessed,
SM
